2025/07/25 16:33

HKEX announced that it enhances the settlement arrangement for multi-counter eligible securities on June 30, 2025. The extract details are as follows:

1. Corporate Action Arrangement

Services

Existing Arrangement

Enhanced Arrangement

Corporate Action
Instructions and Announcement

Submit corporate action instructions through different counters, such as dividend election, subscription or voting, etc.

Submit corporate action instructions such as dividend election, subscription or voting through domain counters on aggregate holdings of all counters

Entitlements

Separate calculation and distribution by different counters

Calculation and distribution through domain counters
on aggregate holdings of all counters

The above arrangement applies to corporate actions with a record date on or after June 30, 2025.

2. Trading Arrangement

After the implementation of the optimization of the multi-counter arrangement of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on June 30, 2025, the number of shares that can be sold in a customer's individual counter will become the total number of all counters. If the transaction causes a negative balance in an individual counter, the system will automatically convert it to close the position after the market closes. The position will be closed by converting the same currency first, and then judged in the order of HKD>USD>CNY.

Example:

Suppose a customer holds 1000 shares of 3081 (HKD), 83081 (CNY), and 9081 (USD). The customer can sell a total of 3000 shares at any counter. If the customer sells 2500 shares of 3081 (HKD), the system will show “- 2500 shares of 3081 (HKD)”. The system will then automatically convert 1000 shares of 9081 (USD) and 500 shares of 83081 (CNY) to 3081 (HKD) after the market closes to offset the position.
